Skins in CS GO and their degree of wear and tear

Factory New (FN)

In CS:GO, skins are cosmetic items that change the appearance of weapons. Each skin can have different levels of wear and tear, which affects their visual appearance.

The degrees of wear in CS:GO skins are as follows:

  • Factory New (FN): have the least amount of wear and appear in pristine condition. They have no visible scratches, scuffs, or blemishes.
  • Minimal Wear (MW): show a small amount of wear and tear. They may have a few minor scratches or abrasions, but overall, they still look relatively well-maintained.
  • Field-Tested (FT): show moderate wear and signs of use. They often have noticeable scratches, scuffs, and wear marks, but they are still in decent condition.
  • Well-Worn (WW): exhibit a significant amount of wear and tear. They have numerous scratches, dents, and blemishes, giving them a worn-out appearance.
  • Battle-Scarred (BS): have the highest degree of wear and tear. They show heavy use, with substantial scratches, abrasions, and even some parts of the skin being worn away.

The wear level of a skin is indicated by a float value that ranges from 0 to 1. A lower float value corresponds to a better condition. However, it’s important to note that wear levels can vary within the same condition, and the exact float values for each wear level may differ from skin to skin.

The wear level of a skin affects its market value, with Factory New skins usually being the most expensive, followed by Minimal Wear, Field-Tested, Well-Worn, and Battle-Scarred. However, rarity and demand for specific skins can also impact their prices.
